Mutts Eye ond BB9 Plus 1

Viewing figures are up on BB9 everyone and the media are claiming it is because of the Channel Four plus 1 effect.

Many clever TV companies have jumped on the 'Plus ONE' band wagon and Channel Four are no exception. There will be many people like myself who could not be bothered to watch BB on Saturday at 9pm, so watched it 10pm - They all count though don't they? - But what the media are emplying is that some daft dear souls are watching Biug Brother at 9pm AND at 10pm and probaby at 7am (or 7.30am depending on the day) the following morning. Whilst there will be a few fanatics, is there really anyone out there who has such a sad and boring life that they have to watch edited BB for two hours and repeated at that?

Facts and Stuff
The viewing figures for last night (June 8)which include Channel 4 and its Channel 4 + 1 later service are a decent 3.2 million. This is aproximately what it was this time last year so what can disipher anything from that? Safe to say BB could still do better however it is holding steady and not dropping its share.

Big Brother's audience average share was 14% of the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnight figures. Channel 4 + 1 picked up a further 311,000 and a 1.9% multichannel share an hour later.
Last year's figures were; 3.6 million and a 15% share in the same slot; so being picky BB is up 0,9% for the one night - Ooooooooh!

Now for Saturday night - the numbers are lower ar 9pm but I chose not to watch it then as I was watching something else of which I cannot remember? Ah where was I? Oh the show had 2.4 million viewers and an 11% share in the 9pm hour and gained another 500,000 – an extra share of 2.8% – watching Channel 4 +1.

Friday night was the show's best night with a massive (Do you remember whe BB's audiences really were massive? Those halcyon days days when we genuinely believe the people in the house were doing it because they wanted the experience......). Friday's figures - 3.5 million viewers and a 16% share tuning in. An additional 300,000 or a 1.3% share watched on Channel 4 +1. That's up on numbers but down on percentage - Oh it does get complicated.

Thursday's launch show saw a dip with ratings down to 5.2 million - a 24% share between 9pm and 10.40pm. An extra 142,300 – a 0.9% share – tuned in on Channel 4 +1.

Episode three Friday night, was watched by 3.3 million; a 15% share for the 8.30pm and 9.30pm. time slot.
There was a second show on Friday last year between 10.30pm and 11.05pm which drew a further 4.3 million and a 24% share of the audience.
